Have you ever watched a drunk astrophysicist talk about Isaac Newton?

You can now. Michael Shenigo-Rudy showed me a hilarious video of Neil deGrasse Tyson, the famous astrophysicist and face of the new Cosmos.

Someone slowed down a normal video of Tyson. He’s not really drunk, but the slower speed makes it look, sound, and feel like he is. Prepare for joy.

This whole video is brilliant, but one line really gets me: “THEN HE TURNED 26!”

When Tyson stresses Newton’s age, he reminds me of Obadiah yelling about Tony Stark in Ironman. (Seriously, Obadiah’s words shatter the unintentional comedy scale.)

Oh, and people have slowed down videos of another celebrity, making him seem like he’s drunk too.

The celebrity? Jeff Goldblum.

It looks like Dr. Ian Malcolm was right. Comedy, like life, “finds a way.”

  2. He’s not drunk. The video is slowed to create the illusion of slurred speak and impaired cognitive abilities. You can hear the distortion in the audio.

    • You’re absolutely right. That’s why I put drunk in scare quotes in the title, and noted that someone slowed the video down.

      I just edited my post, though, to reiterate that he isn’t really drunk.
